Nell Mitcham Nixon

Nell Mitcham Nixon, of Covington, passed away October 7, 2014. Mrs. Nixon was very involved with the Salem Camp Meetings, even attending this year at 102 years of age! She was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington as well as many civic organizations. A cancer survivor herself, Mrs. Nixon volunteered her time providing transportation for others to their medical appointments or treatments. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Nixon; parents, Clode and Cora Mitcham; brothers, Clode Seymour Mitcham and James P. Mitcham, Sr. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nixon will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA, with Dr. Carl Hart and Rev. Charles Reynolds officiating, and interment following in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3962 Salem Road, in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Nixon's memory to the Median and Mature Adult Ministry of the First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher St., Covington, GA 30014.
