Iva Heard Obituary
Iva Jean Heard of Social Circle passed away June 1, 2016, at the age of 88. She was born at home in Miami, Florida, January 27, 1928, to proud parents Roy David and Iva Marie Burnsed. Mrs. Heard was of the Baptist faith, and delighted singing in the choirs of the churches she attended. Having a deep love for music, she especially liked opera. She was a fabulous cook and prepared many meals for her family. Mrs. Heard lived in Mexico Beach, Florida for many years, where she loved going for long walks on the beach and enjoyed the sunsets. She cherished the time spent with family most of all and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Steve Burnsed.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 65 years, Harold Heard; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and George Pittman of Social Circle, Kay and Jim Roberts of Manchester, GA; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and David Head, Christopher and Stacy Pittman, Gregory and Allison Pittman, Tom and Teri Howard; great-grandchildren, Eli and Jacob Head, John and Mark Howard, Cooper and Conner Pittman, Ryker, Tucker and Sawyer Pittman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Harold Buckner, Barbara and Ed Hartley; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Jane Burnsed; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Heard will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may join the family for visitation prior to the service from 12:30 - 2:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or contributions may be made in her memory to Longleaf Hospice, 1132 Floyd Street, Covington, GA 30014.
