Richard Allen Madison, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 68. Mr. Madison will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of Southern food and home-cooked meals, passion for antiquing and collectibles, and his storytelling. He had a keen eye for finding treasures that were not only well-made but also held a history. As a collector, Mr. Madison was especially fond of items with sentimental value. He cherished letters, photographs, and other mementos from family and friends. Mr. Madison was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular love for hockey. He was also a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs, never missing a chance to show his support for his beloved teams. A man of great humor and personality, Mr. Madison had the ability to light up a room with his presence. He was a true people person, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word with those in need. Mr. Madison was preceded in death by his parents, Milton, Sr., and Edna Madison.
Survivors include his brothers, Ronald M. Madison, Milton W. Madison, Jr.; nieces, Rebekah Dingler, Elaine Elliott; and nephew, Richard D. Sexton.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Madison will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023, 12:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor John Hobbs officiating and interment following in Dawn Memorial Park, in Decatur. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to his service, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.
