Richard Kitchens

Richard Kitchens of Covington, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 80. Mr. Kitchens was a hard worker. He took great pride in being a Master Plumber. He was also a farmer, raised livestock, and raised pigs. Mr. Kitchens loved his family and enjoyed hosting family gatherings and all-night barbeques. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Glenda Capes Kitchens; father, Robert Kitchens; mother, Frances Christian Johnson; sister, Charlotte Stanton; and brother-in-law, Larry Capes.

Survivors include his daughter, Laura Goddard (Nelson); son, Jim Kitchens (Dana); grandchildren, Kristin Joslin (Joey), Amanda Woods (Mark), Cassidy McGuinty (Patrick), Hailey Kitchens, Jaden Kitchens; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Shirley Neal (Sidney); sisters-in-law, Clara Sue Cagle (Bobby), Adrian Capes; brothers-in-law, Jerry Stanton, Rev. Ron Capes (Ann); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Service for Mr. Kitchens will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Nelson Goddard and Rev. Gene Miner officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Saturday, January 28, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery Trust, 4386 Klondike Road, Lithonia, GA 30038.
