Mary McLaughlin

Mary McLaughlin, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the age of 78. Mary was a hairdresser of 60 years and started out washing hair at a young age in her Mother’s Stone Mountain, Ga. beauty shop. Mary continued on in her married life cutting and styling hair. She did it from “The Dining Room Table”. The stories that table could tell. From all of the holiday meals served buffet style, to the girls bowling team, spending hours on Wednesday playing cards, to the coffee talk with her customers having their haircut and styled...it would tell that Mary was known for her wit. To hear her brother and her tell some of their stories from growing up were quite comical. Mary Loved her Family and Friends and her family and friends love her just as much and are truly going to miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Joseph McLaughlin, Jr.; daughter, Mary Jo McLaughlin; parents, John Clark and Margaret Hall Cashwell.

Survivors include her son, Tony McLaughlin (Tammy); grandchildren, Melissa Nelson (Michael), John McLaughlin (Staci); great-grandchildren, Jack Cardell, Hailee McLaughlin, Waylon McLaughlin; brother, Ray Cashwell (Sandra).

A Memorial Visitation for Mrs. McLaughlin will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.  

Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
