James Gunn

James Gunn, of Porterdale, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at the age of 74. James enjoyed attending local churches in Porterdale and was always the first to arrive for services. He loved walking the streets of Porterdale and talking to everyone, hanging out at the Salvation Army and Tava’s Diner, and collecting watches. In James’ spare time, he enjoyed being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Nellie Gunn; sister, Mary Tant.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Robert Milligan, Betty Tant, Nettie Shed; brothers, Charles “Boogie” Gunn, Thomas Conner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for James will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021, 12:30 P.M., at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 7037 GA-212, in Covington, with Pastor Wayne Whitley and Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family 30 minutes prior to his service, at the cemetery, from 12 Noon – 12:30 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to any of the churches in Porterdale or the Gospel Mission Church, 755 Almon Rd, Covington, GA 30014.
