Ina Jo Spivey

Ina Jo Spivey of Covington passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at the age of 80. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who adored life. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She was known for always looking her best whether it was traveling, working, shopping, or having friends and family over to the house. Her hair and nails were done up and her makeup flawless. Holiday parties and family get togethers were some of her favorite times – that is when she really got a chance to shine. There was always plenty to eat and the house was filled with love and laughter.

Jo will be greatly missed and there will be a void in the hearts of those that loved her. We lost an amazing Mama, but we rest in His assurance that we will meet again (1st Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Fred Spivey, son Michael Spivey, parents Joseph and Lucille Mitchell, siblings Michael and James.

She is survived by her son Andy Mooney, son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Gayle Mooney, daughter-in-law Lokey Mooney, son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Jena Spivey, daughter Rhonda Spivey Garner, brother Jerry Mitchell, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Spivey will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
