Hubert Lamar Townley, Jr., of Good Hope, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the age of 57. Lamar, when he was physically able, was a supportive member of First Baptist Church of Loganville. Though he served in many capacities, it was his part in the live nativity, “Bethlehem”, that sparked true joy. In his youth, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and continued throughout his life to demonstrate the qualities which earned such an honor. Lamar’s interests were varied and included camping, traveling, cooking, and writing. Taking pen to paper - whether corresponding with his pen pals from all over the globe or bringing life to the characters in his stories - Lamar met people and went places without leaving the comfort of home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Hayes Townley.
Lamar’s memory will be held close in the hearts of many, especially his wife of 34 years, Lucy Townley; sons, Cody Townley and wife, Kim, and their daughter, Ella Fae Townley, Lee Townley and fiancée, Stefanie Stafford; father, Major (Retired) Hubert L. Townley, Sr.; sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine Smith, Gloria and Joseph Malcom, Mary Faith Townley; nieces and nephews, Michelle Malcom, Daniel Malcom, Ryan Felton, Haley Felton, Christopher Townley, Benjamin Townley; mother-in-law, Sandra Felton; and brother-in-law, Doug Felton and wife, Linda.
A Funeral Service for Lamar will be held Monday July 27, 2020, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Doug Felton officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Sunday, July 26, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
