Fred Bankston, Jr.

Fred Bankston, Jr., of Covington, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the age of 81. Mr. Bankston proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He grew up in Oxford and loved old cars – whether he was working on them, fixing them up, or attending car shows. Mr. Bankston enjoyed a good laugh and was always joking. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Bankston was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, Sr., and Lavada Mae Bankston

Survivors include his wife, Kay Bankston; children, Melinda Bankston, Fred Bankston, III; grandchildren, Ryan Puckett, Jessie Gavin, Maddie Poole, Skylar Bankston; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Gail Sadler; brother, Wayne Bankston; as well several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Bankston will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Tim Davenport officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, one hour prior to his service, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
