Douglas C. Ivester, of Covington, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at the age of 87. A native of Stone Mountain, GA, Mr. Ivester was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School. After graduating, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961. Mr. Ivester then worked as a salesman, working most of his career at BFGoodrich and Mechanical Rubber and Supply Company, before retiring in 2001. He was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of Mountain View Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Ivester loved leading people to the Lord and enjoyed handing out Jimmy Swaggart study Bibles when he could. When he was not spreading the word of the Lord to others, he enjoyed fishing at his home at Lake Oconee and gardening – especially vegetables and fruit trees. In addition, he loved his family and grandchildren dearly. Mr. Ivester was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ida Ivester.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jackie Ivester; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Heidi Ivester; Ken Ivester; grandchildren and spouses, Kaley and Chris Hartman, Ashli Ivester, Blake Ivester, Peyton Ivester; great-grandson, Hayes Hartman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Randy Hardeman, Martha and Tommy Harlan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Ivester will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Charles Reynolds officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Saturday, May 1, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
