Doug Mills, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the age of 85. Nothing mattered more to Mr. Mills than family and he assumed his role as husband, father, and grandfather with unconditional love and deep commitment – always making spending time with them a priority. Mr. Mills earned a living doing what he loved – building, and his skills, craftsmanship, and eye for detail brought him great success in his field of residential construction. Rare was the occasion his hands were idle as he was the best version of himself while busy and productive. Mr. Mills’ interests and hobbies centered around being outdoors and echoed his enjoyment of being on the move, whether hunting, fishing, camping, or trips to the beach and mountains, he was content simply taking in the beautiful scenery offered in nature’s settings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Daner and Kate Mills; and sister, Peggy Sorrells.
The life and times of Mr. Mills will carry on in the hearts of his devoted wife of 64 years, Sally Mills; daughter, Reneé Mills; son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Jennifer Mills; grandchildren, Devin Mills Hawkins, Dalton Mills, Sawyer Mills, Madisyn Mills; great-grandson, Wyatt Hawkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Mills will be held Friday, October 16, 2020, 2:00 PM, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Mike Franklin and Bill Norton officiating. Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
