Dorothy "Jean" Strawn Obituary

Dorothy “Jean” Strawn of Oxford, GA, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021, at the age of 92. Mrs. Strawn was a passionate and dedicated Christian woman who served the Lord Jesus for over 80 years.  She was married to the love of her life, Bob Strawn (Hon), for 69 1/2 years and often quoted her own Mother saying, “I love to live!” Mrs. Strawn was a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman and her simple elegance was reflected in everything she touched - her immaculate household, wonderful cooking and amazing sewing skills. Mrs. Strawn became an accomplished pianist as a teenager and played for the Church her Dad pastored in Thomaston, GA before going on to become the pianist for her church in Porterdale, GA for over 30 years. Mrs. Strawn adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and shared a rich and full lifetime of love with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Dewey Hunter and Annie Grace Hunter.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Franklin Strawn; daughter and son-in-law, Gracie and Darrell Payne; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Pamela Strawn; grandchildren and spouses, Leslie and Tim Mitchell, Andrea and Jared Foreman, Christopher and Shay Payne, and Lauren Strawn; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mitchell, Hayden Mitchell, Elliot Foreman, Ansley Payne, Amberly Foreman, and Caroline Payne; sisters and brother-in-law, Martha Pope, JoAnne and Larry Cobb; brother and sister-in-law, B.J. and Annie Hunter.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Caroline Strawn, Beverly Pope, Hiram and Lenette Strawn and many nieces and nephews.
