Danny Gardner

Danny Gardner, age 69, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Pearl Gardner; Sisters: Mary Graham and Anne Biladoux; and his Great-Granddaughter: Amara Phoenix Johnson.

Danny is survived by his wife, Mitzie Freeman Gardner to whom he was a loving and supportive husband of 50 years. He was an ever-present father to his daughter, Shawnee Gardner (Sam Tally) and son, David Gardner (Lindsay), son-in-law, Chris Petty (Stephanie Christian); grandfather to grandsons Levi Johnson (Amber), Dawson Minshew; and grandfather to granddaughters, Jordan Bala (Chance) and Savannah and Addisyn Gardner, and great-grandfather to his great-grandchildren: Amelia and Abigail Bala, Serenity Johnson.

Danny was a diehard motorcycle fanatic. He would ride from dawn to dusk. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and entertainer. He was the recipient of many awards and honors, including Member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, and from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers: Entertainer of the Year, Runner-up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Sound Technician of the Year, Bouncer of the Year, and King of the ASE.

Danny will truly be missed.

A Memorial Service for Danny will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with Rev. Wayne Whitley officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to his service from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
