Cletus “Bud” Smith Obituary

On Thursday, May 27, 2021, Cletus “Bud” Smith, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 75 at his home in Oxford, GA with family by his side.

Bud was born December 26, 1945 in Buffalo, NY. He could do anything, build anything and fix anything. He had a passion for classic cars, enjoyed rooting for his favorite football teams, the Buffalo Bills and the Georgia Bulldogs, listening to live music and dancing with his wife, and spending time with friends and family. He is known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his fun spirit.

Bud is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Smith; son, Shane Smith (Kristy); daughter Shannon LaMarti (Joshua) and grandchildren, Mark Nieves, Skye Nieves, Leland Smith, Austin Minor, Nathan Malkiewicz, Anthony Malkiewicz, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus Joseph Smith, Sr., and Grace Cecilia Smith; sister, Clea Rademacher.

A Memorial Visitation Service for Mr. Smith will be held Sunday, May 30, 2021, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Gary Sinise Foundation, https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/

Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
