Charles Shelnutt, Sr. Obituary

Charles Shelnutt, Sr., of Covington, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020, at the age of 73. Mr. Shelnutt was a member of Gaithers United Methodist Church, General Motors Union, and the Shriner’s Club. Employed for nine years at General Motors and many years for the City of College Park, he was always working hard to provide for his family. Although he was affectionately known by his family and friends as being “stubborn”, Mr. Shelnutt loved spending time with his family – especially during the holidays. He enjoyed fishing, drinking coffee, and had a sweet tooth for peanut M&Ms and Reese’s Pieces. Mr. Shelnutt was preceded in death by his son, Charles Shelnutt, Jr.; parents, Lloyd and Minnie Shelnutt; sister, Deborah Terry; grandparents, John and Mattie Ayers; niece, Hope Pittman.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Dharmen Ghia; sons and daughters-in-law, Simon and Renee Shelnutt, Sam Shelnutt; grandchildren, Leslie and Matthew Roddy, Seth Shelnutt, Walker and Kristen Shelnutt, Ethan Ghia, Nathan Ghia, Kaitlyn Shelnutt, Riley Shelnutt; great-grandchildren, Leighanna Roddy, Jackson Roddy, Aubrey Shelnutt, and Walker Shelnutt, Jr.
