Ada Ann Morgan

Ada Ann Morgan, of Covington, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at the age of 97. Mrs. Morgan was born February 7, 1926, to Willie “Mae” (Lee) and Charles Drewy “Charlie” Milner in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. She was the eighth of 11 children: Lewis, Zula, Lucille, JD, Elizabeth, CD, Alfred, Luther, Allene and Vester. Mrs. Morgan’s family farmed as cotton sharecroppers until moving to Georgia to work in the cotton mills after her mother’s death in 1942. She married Oliver “Gus” Morgan on November 29, 1945, and moved to Porterdale. She is now reunited in heaven with four babies, including their first child, David. The couple built their home in Covington in 1960, where she passed away surrounded by love. Mrs. Morgan valued education and was proud that her children graduated high school, an opportunity she was not afforded. She indulged eleven grandchildren with endless sweets, biscuits, gravy, and dressing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Morgan; son, David Lamar Morgan; grandson, Samuel Hudson; parents, Charles Drewy and Mae Milner; and 8 siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Kimble (Douglas) of Oxford; sons, Wayne Morgan (Joy) of Jackson, Bobby Morgan (Susan) of Covington; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Allene Lee; brother, Vester Milner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Morgan will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Kenneth Morrell officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Wednesday, May 24, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
