William Thomas Cartledge, of Covington, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the age of 91. Mr. Cartledge proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was born and raised in Covington and was a member of The Monroe Church. Mr. Cartledge enjoyed cutting grass, going to yard sales, telling jokes, and traveling to the North Carolina mountains. Above all, what he treasured most was the time spent with his family and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Mr. Cartledge was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Carter; parents, Thomas and Fairy Mae Cartledge; sisters, Barbara Cook, Evelyn Bell, Polly Rush; and brother, Joe Cartledge.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Ann Cartledge; daughter, Cindi Calies (Mike); sons, Billy Cartledge (Angie), Andy Cartledge; grandchildren, Randy Norman (Jessica), Keith Norman (Amanda), Doug Carter (Audrey), Dustin Carter, Dylan Carter, Cody Cartledge; 27 great-grandchildren; as well as 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Cartledge will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Greg Baldwin officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday, April 6, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
