It is with sadness that the family of Walter Thomas “Tommy” Barnette Jr. announces his passing on June 4th, 2025, at his residence in Bishop, Georgia at the age of 76. Tommy was born on February 2nd, 1949, in Winder, Georgia. He was a loving and devoted family man, treasured by all who knew him.
Tommy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marines, demonstrating strength and integrity in all of his endeavors. After his service, he dedicated his professional life to his passion for electrical work, becoming a self-employed Master Electrician. Tommy’s work ethic and commitment were evident to all who had the pleasure of his service and friendship.
Forever remembered for his generous spirit, Tommy loved the outdoors and found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing. He was a man known not only for his skills and dedication but also for his heart and willingness to help anyone in need.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Walter Thomas Barnette Sr. and Minnie Belle Barnette, as well as his beloved spouse, Debra Kay Barnette. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members who will cherish the many fond memories and lessons he leaves behind.
A graveside service will be held at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, Georgia, on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend this final farewell to a man greatly loved and deeply respected.
