Travis Eugene Haywood, of Eatonton, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the age of 85. Mr. Haywood will be remembered as a man who truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and the people he shared them with. He had a deep love for fishing and felt most at home near the water, especially when he was out on a boat. An avid tinkerer, he took pride in yard work and working on project trucks, always finding joy in staying busy with his hands.
Known for his playful spirit, Mr. Haywood loved pulling pranks and keeping family and friends laughing. He cherished time spent camping and going on cruises, creating lasting memories wherever he traveled. A faithful churchgoer, his love for his faith was an important part of his life.
He also enjoyed gathering around the table with loved ones, especially for Chinese food and good BBQ. Mr. Haywood’s warmth, humor, and hardworking nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Avis Haywood; and sister, Dot.
Survivors include his children,Travis Haywood (Priscilla), Michael Haywood, Cheryl McGert, Kathy Stowe (Tommy), Leslie Starke, Ronnie Whitaker (Anita), Mike Whitaker (Deanna), Cathy Skinner (Larry); grandchildren, Amanda Higgs (Greg), Abigail Jones (Jason), Andrew Haywood, Ashley Stowe, Johnny Stowe (Kaylin), Barbara Haywood, Nolan Haywood, Tyler Haywood, Bradford Haywood, Tiffany Whitaker, Leanna Whitaker, Michelle Whitaker, Christy Whitaker, Michael Berryman, Emily Newell; great-grandchildren, Claire Higgs, Travis Hall, Meredith Jones, Levi Cook, Lillian Cook, Bentley Cook, Adam Whitaker, Alexis Peters, Ainsleigh Manoia, Jason Cobb, Robert Cobb, Nathan Cobb, Cheyenne Cobb, Allen Harmon; brothers, Joe Haywood (Ruth), Tom Haywood (Carol); and sisters, Deborah Gibbs, Judy Draper (Clarke).
