Tommy Maddox, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on October 10, 1945, to the late John Thomas Maddox and Sue Holder Maddox.
Tommy was a 1963 graduate of North Cobb High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 as a company clerk with the 24th Infantry Division in Augsburg, Germany. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Following his military service, Tommy graduated from Southern Technical Institute and later attended Woodrow Wilson College of Law. He pursued a career in sales and spent the final several years of his career at AB & E Warehouse in Lake City, Georgia.
Faith was an important part of Tommy's life. He was ordained as a deacon at Eastwood Baptist Church and also served as a deacon at North Rockdale Baptist Church and Woodlake Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member.
Tommy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, woodworking, and attending auto races. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his granddaughter, Audrey. Many treasured memories were made spending time together at the lake with those he loved.
Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Teresa Chaffin Maddox; his son, Todd Maddox (Pam); and his beloved granddaughter, Audrey Melissa Maddox. He is also survived by his sister, Reba Maddox King (Kenny); nieces, Jessica King and Melissa Newell; nephews, Andrew King (Jessica) and Michael Newell (Connie); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Tommy will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country and church, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Woodlake Baptist Church (3940 GA-138, Covington) , followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Woodlake Baptist Church Building Fund.
