Lee Roy Freeman, of Conyers, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 70. Mr. Freeman lived life wide open and entirely on his own terms—if you knew him, you knew it was his way or the highway. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere the road took him. A fierce and loyal friend, he gave generously of his time volunteering with the Traveling Vietnam Wall, honoring those who served and ensuring their sacrifices were remembered.
Motorcycles were his passion and his passport. He worked as a bouncer at the Iron Horse Saloon in Daytona, where he mixed toughness with a ready grin that made newcomers feel welcome. Every Thanksgiving he made his annual pilgrimage to the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame Awards, combining his love of travel, music, and fellowship into a tradition he never missed.
He loved life, and he lived it to the fullest—loud, loyal, and unapologetically himself. He is survived by family who loved him and a road-wide circle of friends who will carry his stories forward. Ride on, Mr. Freeman. You will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Lee Roy (Pappy) Freeman; and sister, Bonnie Reynolds.
Survivors include his sister, Cindy Bentley (Donald); aunt, Mitzie Gardener (Danny); as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Freeman will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025, 2:00 P.M., at Hi Roc Association, 2315 Lakeshore Drive Northeast, in Conyers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to vietnamandallveteransofbrevard.com
