Rebecca Turner, age 43, of Conyers, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September

1, 2026. She was born on August 24, 1983, in Newark, New Jersey, to Jesus Gonzalez

and Sandra Olivo.

Rebecca spent her early years growing up in the Greater Hartford area of Connecticut.

In 2013, she moved to Georgia with her beloved son, Tony Walters, and fur baby Emmy

where she established her home and built a life centered around faith, family, education,

service, and community.

Rebecca dedicated her life to helping others. She was a passionate advocate for

community service and received numerous awards recognizing her leadership and

commitment to serving those around her. Her most recent honor came in recognition of

her outstanding participation with Habitat for Humanity in March 2026.

What many people did not know was that, during this same season of service and

giving, Rebecca was courageously undergoing chemotherapy. With the exception of a

few close loved ones, she quietly carried this battle while continuing to pour herself into

others. Her bravery, strength, and selfless spirit touched everyone who had the privilege

of knowing her. Her courage was especially inspiring to the students whose lives she

influenced.

Education was another important part of Rebecca’s life. She earned a bachelor’s

degree in social work at Springfield College in Springfield Massachusetts; her first

master’s in social work at Troy University. In November of 2025 Rebecca proudly

graduated with honors with her second master’s degree in education and special

education.

Rebecca’s final professional home was Salem High School, where she worked

alongside a wonderful staff and dedicated herself to her students. She was more than

an educator; she was a source of encouragement, compassion, and inspiration. She

also assisted with coaching the school’s volleyball team, sharing her time, energy, and

competitive spirit with her students and athletes.

Rebecca’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply devoted to her church

community ( F.A.C.M) Falling after Christ Ministry and consistently made time to serve,

lead, and worship. She led services and was a major part of her church family. She

never missed a week. Her relationship with God was profound, and her faith was so

genuine that it inspired everyone who encountered her.

Beyond her service to her students, church, and community, Rebecca treasured her

family and friends. She was a phenomenal wife and mother, a loving daughter and

sister, an active loving auntie/titi to Ava Gray and a devoted friend. She found joy in

sewing and creating, always using her creativity to bring love into the lives of those

around her. She especially enjoyed creating hairstyles for her husband and son,

nurturing them with affection and care.

Cooking also became one of Rebecca’s favorite ways to express her love. Her family

frequently requested her beloved vegetable lasagna, a dish that became one of the

many tastes and memories they will forever associate with her.

Family game nights were another cherished tradition. Rebecca was fiercely competitive,

and game night became a ritual filled with laughter, fellowship, and unforgettable

memories. Alongside her husband and sister, she won many hands, always bringing her

determination and playful competitive spirit to the table.

Rebecca was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, auntie, niece, godmother, friend,

educator, servant, and community leader. But above all, she was a child of God. Her

faith, her courage, and the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting part of the lives

of all who knew her.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her grandmother Lucy Ortiz, sister-in-law Tinniya

Davis, and cousin Luis Rivera.

She leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life and husband of 11 years, Ray

Turner, whom she married on March 9, 2025; her beloved son, Tony Walters; her

sisters, Pamela Vaca, Ziyesha Kehinde, Amina Johnson, Ebony Jones, Rayshawn

Jones, Terriana McLalaughlin and Jamie Dones; her brothers, Henry Olivo, Victor

Turner Jr., Albert Tillman, and Demetrius Dixon; her parents, Jesus Gonzalez and

Sandra Olivo; her father- and mother-in-law, Donzell and Victor Turner and Bonita

Thompson; her aunts, Dinorah Rijos and Vionette Gonzalez; her niece, Ava Gray,

Allison Dixon and Jade Wyatt; her nephews, Jerimiyah Davis and Jahir Taylor;

along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cherished

friends, and her beloved church community.

Rebecca’s life was a testament to what it means to serve, to love, to believe, and to give

of oneself without expecting anything in return. Though her time on earth was far too

short, the lives she touched will carry her memory forward.

She served with love.

She lived with courage.

She walked by faith.

And she left this world knowing she was deeply loved.

May her beautiful soul rest eternally in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
