Peggy Jgrucia Vickery

Peggy Jgrucia Vickery, of Conyers, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the age of 78. Mrs. Vickery will be remembered as a loving, spirited, one-of-a-kind woman who cherished her family and the extensive community she built in Conyers and beyond.

She was adored by every single person she came into contact with. From the cashiers in drive-throughs, to bank tellers, to customer service agents on the phone, to her granddaughters’ school teachers and friends, she left an impression on them all. Her joyful, caring, and flirtatious personality drew everyone to her. She took care of so many of her people, and always wanted to help and extend kindness to all.

Peggy was a talented hairdresser, running her own business in town, Peggy's Hair Fashions, for over 50 years. She was a self-taught business woman admired by many. Her loving friends Mary Ann and Barbara worked alongside her for many decades and often accompanied her on her favorite type of vacation: gambling at the casinos of Las Vegas.

She loved country music, vanilla milkshakes, Diet Coke, bold necklaces, trips to Daytona Beach, and reading mystery novels at her beloved library.

Peggy's style was exceptional. You would never see her without a full face of meticulously applied makeup, a colorful bold outfit, sparkly jewelry, and her signature big blonde hairdo, inspired by her idol Dolly Parton.

She left a lasting impact on this planet, and her memory and spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched, especially those of her granddaughters Lacey and Erin.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Pat A. Vickery and Jack McArthur, parents Ruth and Rayborn Chapman, brother Daniel Strandberg, and son Paul Stansell.

Her survivors include her granddaughters Lacey Stansell of Los Angeles and Erin Stansell of Conyers, close cousins Vicki Reynolds and Quinton Champion, and extensive family and friends in Georgia, Alabama, and beyond.

A funeral service for Mrs. Vickery will be held Monday, September 15th, 2025, 2 PM at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan. 1215 Access Road, in Covington, and internment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to her service, from 12 pm to 2 pm.
