Peggy Rowland Chancey, of Buford formerly of Covington, passed away on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, at the age of 92.
Peggy was born in Mansfield, Georgia to J.B. and Annelle Rowland. She later moved to Covington and graduated from Newton County High School and the Greenleaf School of Business. She married Ned Chancey August 31, 1957. They were married 44 years when he passed away in 2002.
She was employed by First National Bank of Atlanta for 40 plus years, starting out in their Operations Department and moving up ranks to Teller, Head Teller, Commercial Banker and finally to Vice President and Branch Manager and ended her lengthy career at the Monroe, GA branch. She loved banking but said her most important, fulfilling role was being “Mom” to her two boys Scott and Kelly. It was the role that made her the most proud.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Chancey; son, D. Scott Chancey; parents, J.B. (John Bryant) and Annelle Banks Rowland; brothers, Larry (Mary), and Bobby (Janice).
She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Julie Chancey of Gainesville, GA; her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Chancey Kritzman (Scott) of Alpharetta, GA, Nathan Chancey (Elizabeth) of Norcross, GA, and Haley Chancey Jones of Gainesville, GA, along with her five adored great-grandchildren, Reagan and Audrey Jones, and Cecilia, Noah and Lake Chancey; also her sister, Gail Davis (Tony); and brothers, Bryant Rowland (Margaret); and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for being someone who put everyone else before herself her whole life.
