Paul Edward Moyers, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the age of 84. Mr. Moyers proudly served his county in the United States Navy for 21 years where he had an active-duty tour during Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield. He worked for Atlanta Gas Light Company for 38 years and 4 months. During his time at Atlanta Gas Light Company, Mr. Moyers had the privilege of setting the gas meter on the Olympic Torch, along with other many landmark buildings in Atlanta. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching bluebirds and deer, fishing, playing golf, and cheering on his favorite team, the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Moyers loved his family dearly and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Moyers; mother, Nanolene McDaniel Moyers; brothers, Gilbert Wayne Moyers, James Richard Moyers, Daniel Malcolm Moyers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Payne Moyers; son, Jeff Moyers; daughter, Kay Moyers; granddaughter, Jordan Deal (Walt); great-grandson, Gentry Alvin “GA” Deal; sister, Mary Moyers Tobler; brother, David Calvin Moyers.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Moyers will be held Saturday, July 13, 2:00 P.M. at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Ben Reynolds officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, July 13, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
