Paul was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, known for his unwavering support of legends like Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty. His love for sports extended beyond racing; he was a loyal supporter of the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs. An avid collector of coins, Paul had a zest for learning and working with his hands. He retired from Snapping Shoals EMC. He was never one to sit still, often found immersed in projects related to cars or yard work, especially taking pride in restoring old cars and trucks. His industrious nature and commitment to tackling any task were hallmarks of his character, inspiring those around him.
Paul's passing will be felt by so many whose lives he touched. He was a wonderful grandad, a devoted dad, a loyal friend, and a respected foreman who worked hard and cared deeply for those around him. He always had a way of making people feel seen and valued, whether it was through his wisdom, his humor, or simply his presence. He carried both strength and kindness in everything he did, and those who knew him were better for it. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we had with him and for the memories that will carry on through our family and all who loved him. His impact is one that will not fade.
Paul is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa Haney and Tammy (Gary) Cowart, and son, Stacy Badgett. He was a proud grandfather to Allison (Cory) Lewis, Adam (Tina) Parker, Amanda Blankenship, Garrett (Casey) Cowart, Presley Haney, and Rylan Haney, and a doting great-grandfather to Mason, Ethan, Ansleigh, Logan, Noah, Grayson, Charlee, Toby, and Maddox. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Mary Ruth Johnson and Jane Vernon, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Thelma Badgett; his brother, Herbert Badgett; and granddaughters, Savannah Cowart and Grace Cowart. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit, stories, and laughter will forever resonate with those who knew and loved him.
