On Monday, September 2, 2024, Mrs. Nina Joyce Rowe, lovingly known to many as Mama, Aunt Joyce and Nanny J was welcomed in Heaven by her Heavenly Father; the one for whom she loved and lived her life for. Mrs. Joyce is remembered by all who loved her as the sweetest and kindest lady you would ever meet. She loved watching westerns – especially ‘Gunsmoke’ and ‘Highway to Heaven’, watching the red birds outside; and in her spare time, she enjoyed coloring, word searches, and most importantly reading her Bible which she read every morning, and her relationship with her Lord and Savior. She had a smile that could light up a room and the most angelic, sweetest, little voice and a big heart.
She loved to sing with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters in church. She loved to worship and praise the Lord, at Calvary Baptist Church in Conyers, Ga which was her home church, with her favorite Pastor Tracy Puckett. She loved her church and her church family. Serving her Lord and her family was her heart, no matter who you were she treated you like her own. She will be greatly missed by so many who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rowe; her son, George Steven “Steve” Venable; and siblings, Walter “Junior” Wheeler, Jimmy Wheeler, Clifford Wheeler, Modine Moore, Louise Johnson, and Margaret “Bootie” Walden.
She is survived by daughters, Wanda Horton and husband, Teddy, and Shelly Winders and husband Eric; her grandchildren, T.C. Martin, Tanya Lightner and husband Jonathan, Cale Coggins and wife Chelsea, Tabo Lantry, Erica Busbee and husband Kyle, Michael Shane Venable, George Steven Venable, Jr.; as well as 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that she adored.
A Service to honor Joyce’s life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 1:00 P.M., at Calvary Baptist Church, 315 Oglesby Bridge Road SE, in Conyers, with Pastor Tracy Puckett and Brother Eric Winders officiating, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to her service.
