IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mitzie Diane
Gardner
August 21, 1953 – March 24, 2026
Mitzie Gardner, of Conyers, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 72. Mrs. Gardner was a gifted entertainer, artist, and a woman whose life was filled with creativity, generosity, and love. A proud member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and The Atlanta Society of Entertainers, she shared her passion for music with the world, even having several of her songs published in books. Her talent and love for performing brought joy to many and left a lasting impression on all who heard her.
Beyond music, Mrs. Gardner had a deep love for arts and crafts. She found happiness in creating—whether it was crocheting, making jewelry, or crafting something special for someone she loved. She had a remarkable gift for seeing beauty and value in even the smallest things, always finding a purpose and a place for them.
Known for her generous heart, she was one of the most giving people you could ever meet. She never turned anyone away and had a unique way of “collecting” both cherished items and meaningful relationships. Her home and life were filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Mrs. Gardner also found great joy riding motorcycles with her husband, cherishing the freedom of the open road and the unmistakable sound of the bikes she loved so much.
She adored her fur babies and grand fur babies, caring for them with the same warmth and devotion she gave to everyone in her life. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her music family held a special place in her heart, and she took immense pride and joy in hearing her son sing.
Mrs. Gardner will be remembered for her boundless creativity, her generous spirit, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the music she created, the art she made, and the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Gardner; great-granddaughter, Amara Johnson; parents, Oscar and Estelle Freeman; sisters, Dorothy Mae Whitley, Maxine Chandler; brothers, LeRoy "Pappy" Freeman, Cecil Freeman, Wayne Freeman, and Earl "Shorty" Freeman.
