Merle Sterling Goss

Merle Sterling Goss, of Covington, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at the age of 74. Mr. Goss was a devoted family man and an avid sportsman who found great joy in the outdoors. He especially loved deer hunting and fishing, spending many peaceful hours doing what he loved most. Music was another passion of his—he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for those around him. Known for his warm spirit and generous heart, Mr. Goss delighted many by playing Santa, bringing smiles to children and adults alike. He also cherished trips to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where he made many happy memories. Mr. Goss will be fondly remembered for his talents, kindness, and love of life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Penny and Annie Ruth Goss; brother, Harold Goss and Henry Goss; sister, Connie Phillips; and fur-baby, Angel.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Goss; brother, Frank Goss (Terri); sister, Florene Phillips (Michael); several nieces and nephews, and his fur-baby, Angel.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Goss will be held Sunday December 28, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are welcome to visit with the family one hour prior to his service from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.
