Mercie E. Nelson Julye

Mercie E Nelson Julye, beloved mother of five children passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Portland Jamaica in 1945 to the late Kathleen and Reginald Nelson, preceding her only sister Meekly Campbell.She attended Mount Herman Primary School until grade 9, before working in Jamaica as a seamstress, and ultimately moving to the United States to work as a home health aid.

In her lifetime, Mercie was full of life, laughter and dance. She loved music and tearing up the dance floor. She was known for being loving and kind to people, always giving and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Julye, her parents Kathleen and Reginald Nelson, and her son Jon Julye. Mercie is survived by her children: Raul Chambers, Carianne Haye, Rupert Vassel, Gary Julye, her sister Meekly Campbell, her nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The Viewing is March 14, 2026 at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home at 11:30AM and the Funeral Services will be held at 12:30PM at the same location.
