Mattie Lee Allen

Mattie Lee Allen, of Covington, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Mrs. Allen was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, mammie, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. A strong-willed woman, she was admired and deeply loved by many. She was a friend to everyone she met and enjoyed life’s simple joys - watching TV, playing cards, bowling, and decorating for Christmas. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, who will forever treasure her memory. Faithful in service, Mrs. Allen dedicated herself to her church in many ways, especially through the food ministry. Her love, devotion, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Allen; daughter, Denice Hallock; parents, Jess and Oleta Matheson;and sister, Rita Lyons.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Barrett; daughters, Jerri Summers (Stan), Jessica Milner (Scott); grandchildren, Danny McGiboney (Michelle), Timmy Barrett, Matt Barrett (Crystal), Amber Burnett (Marcus), Sabbrina Abernathy (Marty), Allen Smith (Ashley), Dustin Summers (Taylor), Katie Summers, Samantha Emmons (Justin), Dylan Summers, Dayton Milner (Megan);

great-grandchildren, Danielle, Kara, Killian, Evan, Lyric, Lilliana, Kennedy, Karson, Kensley, Brody, Memphis, Emory, Grant, Parker, Haven, Emma, Hudson, Savannah, Riley; great-great-grandchild, Dahlia; sister, Patsy Milne; brother, Junior Matheson (Evelyn); as well as several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other extended family members.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Allen will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday, October 2, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
