Mary Irene Clay, of Social Circle, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 76. Mrs. Clay was a woman of deep faith, strength, and love, whose life was centered around her family and her devotion to God. An active member of Almon Baptist Church, she found great joy in Bible studies and lived her life guided by her strong spiritual beliefs. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her children who were her greatest treasures, and her grandchildren. Mrs. Clay also enjoyed peaceful outdoor walks, quiet time reading, and preparing meals as a talented and loving cook. A dedicated professional, she built a successful career in the banking industry, earning respect through her hard work and determination. Mrs. Clay will be remembered as a strong, loving, and family-oriented woman whose warmth and faith touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Oliver Clay; parents, Charles and Louis Mensinger; sisters, Brenda Hamby and Carletta Griffiths.

Survivors include her Children, Kalyn Peppers (Lance), Sherri Sharpton (Dennis), John Clay (Audrey); grandchildren, Emily Myers (Jordan), Steven Peppers, Jesse Clay, Jacob Sharpton, Zachary Sharpton, Christen Clay, Matthew Sharpton, Nicholas Peppers and Connor Peppers.
