Mary Lee Brooks

September 1, 1942 — July 2, 2025

Mary Lee Brooks, age of 82, of Covington, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on September 1, 1942, in Porterdale, Georgia, Mary was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mary was the cherished daughter of Everett and Bertha Dee Coady. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Brooks; siblings, Frances Lindsey, Sonny Coady, Geraldine Smallwood; great-grandson, Trevor Prevatt. Despite these losses, Mary’s spirit remained indomitable, and she continued to surround herself with love and joy through her family.

Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott (Barbara) Hailey, Johnny (Ivy) Hailey, and James (Pam) Hailey, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Steve) Coe. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: Joshua, Tiffany, Sarah, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Janna, and Heather; great-grandson, Baylor, and two more great-grandchildren on the way; as well as her great-great-grandson, Parker who all brought her immeasurable joy. She found great companionship in her special caregiver, Barbara Manning, who provided her with exceptional love and support in her later years and her beloved chihuahua, Cricket. Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Throughout her life, Mary had a wide array of interests that brought her joy. She was an avid reader and loved to challenge herself with crossword puzzles. She found solace in the beauty of the mountains and enjoyed fishing whenever she could. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandkids and family, creating lasting memories through laughter and shared experiences. Dining out at Stalvey's and Cracker Barrel for her favorite vegetable plates was a delightful highlight, and her sweet tooth shone through with her love for desserts, especially anything lemon-flavored.

Mary’s kind spirit, warm heart, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering love for her family and her passion for life serve as a testament to her incredible spirit.
