Obituary

Margaret Geneva Mitchell, of Oxford, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the age of 95. Mrs. Mitchell was a loving, patient, and kind woman whose greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, serving as a devoted mentor and guiding influence in their lives. She cherished time spent cooking, sewing, reading, and enjoying her favorite ice cream. A godly woman, Mrs. Mitchell faithfully shared her wisdom, faith, and values with her family, leaving a legacy of love, strength, and guidance that will continue for generations. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Mitchell; Parents Giles and Mattie Richardson; son-in-law, Duane Owens; brothers, Danny Richardson, Billy Richardson, Charlie Richardson, and Franklin Richardson.

Survivors include her children, Margaret Ann Owens, Barbara Fagan (Cliff), Donna McDuffee (Dan), Gregory Mitchell (Jeanne); grandchildren, Jason Owens, Melissa Owens Vach, Andrew Fagan, Chad Fagan, Christopher Fagan, Trisha Snead, Patrick Wilson, Kyle McDuffee, Victoria Mitchell Brown, Peyton Mitchell; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother, Hubert S. Richardson.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Mitchell will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, 1:30 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Friday, June 5, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., and again prior to her service on Saturday from 12:00 - 1:30 P.M.
