Linda Overby, of Covington, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the age of 74. Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very strong and caring woman who loved everyone and never judged anyone. She would take you in, feed you and give you a place to stay if you were down on your luck because she had been in their place at times in her life. Linda was one of seven children who grew up in a sharecropper household in Walton County, Georgia, until getting married and moving to Tennessee with her husband, Billy, where she raised three children. Linda and her family moved back to Georgia to be closer to Egleston Hospital for her son, Timmy, who had cystic fibrosis and lived until the age of 44. She was his number one cheerleader. Linda also fought a lot of health conditions from a brain aneurysm to COPD. She was one-of-a-kind through all of it and fought all the way until the end. Linda had a wonderful smile and a quick wit about her. She will be remembered for her infectious spirit and missed by all who knew her. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Overby; son, Timmy Overby; parents, Noah James, Sr., and Helen Lucille Ellis; brothers, Larry Ellis, Raymon Ellis; and sister-in-law, Janice Ellis.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Johnson, Renee McCall; grandchildren, Amber Watson, Heather Wisner (Bobby), Charles McCall, Cheyenne McCall; great-grandchildren, Rosealee Wisner, Logan Wisner, Novalee Skinner; sister, Judy Skinner; brothers, N.J. Ellis (Geneva), Gary Ellis, Kevin Ellis (Stacey); sister-in-law, Sandra Budd; as well as several nieces and nephews.
