LaVonne Street, of Covington, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at the age of 82. Mrs. Street retired from C.R. Bard in Covington. She was a member of Newton Baptist Church and the Ambassador Sunday School class. Mrs. Street had a servant heart and volunteered at Newton Medical in her early years. With open loving arms, she cared deeply for everyone that entered her life. Mrs. Street cared for her husband and neighbors. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, sharing books, reading the Bible, and cooking for her family and church. Mrs. Street was a perfectionist in everything she did and was a simple and loving person with a gift for gardening, flowers, and nature. She liked watching the hummingbirds, deer, horses, and embracing nature from her back porch. Mrs. Street loved listening to her babies talk of their interests and activities, such as horse and cattle shows, sports, fishing, and hunting. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years, Gerald Street; parents, Sultan Lavon and Georgia Frances (McCart) Wiggins; and sisters, Virginia Floyd, Martha Wiggins.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Malench (Tom); sons, Charles Galloway, Jr. (Melinda), Steven Galloway (Rita), Richard Galloway (Dianna), Jim Galloway (Valerie); grandchildren, Ken Galloway, Nicole Galloway, Leslie Fowler, Brandon Fowler (Abby), Cason Galloway, Carter Galloway, Jason Galloway (Courtney), Tonya Reeves (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Everett Fowler, Emily Claire Fowler, Aubrey Fowler, Lillie Reeves, Lelan Reeves; sisters, Lynn Bankston, Brenda Wells (Richard), Juanita Proffit (Don), Faith Wiggins, Sarae Walton (Leon); brothers, Tony Wiggins (Donna), Tim Wiggins; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Street will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Tony Howeth officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to her service from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M.
