Kathleen “Kat” Lynch, age 93, of Covington, Georgia, passed away on April 25, 2026. Born on August 11, 1932, in Porterdale, Georgia, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion, strength, and an enduring love for those closest to her.
Kat was the beloved daughter of Eddie Bruce and Pauline Head Kite. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lynch, and was also preceded by her sons Jody Kevin Lynch, Stacy William Lynch her brothers Roy Lee Kite, John Thomas Kite, Eddie Lewis Kite, as well as her sisters Sally Mills and Linda Kitchens. She is survived by her children, Kathy Jo Haydell and her husband Richard, and Bruce Lynch and his wife Letice. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law Denise Lynch, brother Albert Kite her grandchildren Corey Lynch, Chelsea Lynch, Kesha Mayer, Brittany Owens, William Lynch, Morgan Brookman, Joseph Haydell, and Kaitlyn Haydell, along with 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Known affectionately throughout her life as Kat, Momma, Mom, and Nanny, Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by unwavering dedication and a deep love for her family. She and Horace raised their children with care and commitment, and she took great pride in creating a home filled with warmth, stability, and lasting memories. Her family was always her highest priority, and she gave generously of herself in every season of life.
Kathleen worked for many years in several roles at Bibb Manufacturing and later continued her career in a medical office after Bibb closed. She and a close friend later started an insurance claims business, which proved successful for several years. In her younger years, Kat was athletic and enjoyed sports, and while working at Bibb she developed a love for golf. One of her proudest memories was playing in a company tournament at Augusta National, an experience she treasured throughout her life.
After years of hard work and service to both her family and community, Kathleen and Horace retired to Jackson Lake, where they enjoyed a peaceful and happy chapter together. Following Horace’s passing, she purchased her final home in Covington, where she took great joy and pride in living independently. In her later years, she remained active with her friends, family, and church, Gaithers United, where her presence was deeply appreciated and warmly felt.
Kathleen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, resilience, and selfless spirit. She was a loving woman who gave freely of her time, her care, and her heart. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now free from the pain of this world and rests in peace and eternal comfort in Heaven. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
