John Mark Cline, known affectionately as John to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at the age of 81 in Stockbridge, Georgia. Born on December 28, 1943, in LaFollette, Tennessee, John was a devoted son to his late parents, Marion and Ralph Cline, and a caring brother to his late brother, James (Jim) Cline.
John was a man whose hands could skillfully bring any piece of wood to life. His love for building was not just a hobby but a reflection of his inner spirit — creating small houses and intricate model trains that held profound meaning to him. He found solace in the rhythm of the rails and was often found trackside photographing, immersed in the sights and sounds of passing trains with his friends. John's passion for the railroad was not just a pastime; it was a lifelong love affair that brought him immeasurable joy.
Above all, John cherished his family. He leaves behind his loving daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Marshal Davenport, who will deeply miss his kindness, guidance, and the loving home he built for them where they shared so many memories. John was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes about his love for his family.
John Cline's life will be celebrated in the memories he created the love he shared, and the quiet moments by the tracks, where the echo of a train's whistle will forever remind us of him. His journey through life was much like a well-loved locomotive — steadfast, powerful, and leaving a lasting impression on all the stations it passed. Rest in peace, John; your memory will forever be engraved in our hearts. John will be missed by all who knew him.
