John Victor Brown, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 74. Mr. Brown lived life with purpose, passion, and presence. A man who loved his family deeply, he found joy in serving God and lifting others with his bold spirit and quick wit. He had a voice for singing, a heart for gospel music, and an ear always tuned to a good song.
Gardening, birdwatching, cooking, and grilling were among his favorite pastimes, often shared with laughter and stories that filled every room he entered. A true Braves fan, a loyal Chase Elliott supporter, and a lover of baseball and NASCAR, he never missed a chance to cheer on his teams.
Direct, punctual, and commanding, people naturally gravitated to him, drawn by his energy, humor, and generosity. Mr. Brown leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service, remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Carlton Brown and Ellender Brown; and brother, Jeffrey Lynn Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Brown; children, Charlie Brown (Melissa), Audrey Clay (John), Jeffrey Brown (Shalon); step-daughter, Melanie C. Ryder (Mark); grandchildren, Abram Brown, Macie Brown, Madelyn Brown, Emily Myers (Jordan), Jesse Clay, Christen Clay, Delainey Brown, Tyler Pendygraft, Brooklyn Pendygraft, Camden Murphey, Erica Morelock (Austin), Katelyn Jones (Nate); great-grandchildren, Connor Jones, Grayson Jones, Lincoln Morelock
Laila Morelock; brothers, Tommy Brown (Nancy), Joey Brown (Pat), Carl Brown (Julia); aunt, Flossie Rhodes, Vivian Rhodes; several nieces and nephews, and numerous Cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Brown will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, 1:00 P.M., at Faith Monroe Baptist Church, 1789 Highway 11, in Monroe, Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church one hour prior to his service from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Monroe Building Fund.
