Joann Smart, of Covington, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at the age of 78. Mrs. Smart enjoyed spending time with her friend in Alabama and she liked to play quarter slots with her. Additionally, she loved doing word puzzles and drinking coffee in the mornings. Mrs. Smart cherished her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Wade Witcher (Melisa); grandchildren, Harley Witcher, Chris Glass (Anna), Austin Glass (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Sophia Glass, Zeke Glass, Skylar Glass, Hadleigh Glass; siblings, Katrina Self (Roger), Mike Lester (Vicky), Gary Lester (Charlene); aunts, Ann Deerman, Mary Rogers, and nine nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service for Mrs. Smart will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021, 11:00 A.M., at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3962 Salem Road, in Covington, with John Deerman officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
