Joan Rutledge, a beloved wife, mother and Mama Joan, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in the same Walton County, Georgia, where she was born on December 14, 1950. Born to Lamar and Gennie Mae Bankston, Joan's life journey was one of resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Joan was a devoted wife to her late husband, Allen Arnold Rutledge, who preceded her in passing. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and affection, a legacy now carried on by their children. Joan's legacy lives on through her daughter, Cassandra Conner (married to Owen), her sons, Jason Rutledge (married to Lori), and Marcus Rutledge (married to Crystal), and her adored grandchildren: Leigh Henegar (married to Dillon), Zach Conner, Angela Rutledge, Murphy Rutledge, Ella Rutledge, Rachel Rutledge, Ethan Rutledge, Emalee Rutledge, Izaac Rutledge, and Logan Rutledge. Joan's love for reading was matched only by her love for her morning coffee with two heaping teaspoons of sugar. Her hands, ever so gentle and caring, were also skilled in the kitchen, where she crafted wonderful biscuits and joyously cooked for her family and friends. A faithful member of Jersey Holiness Church, Joan's faith was a cornerstone of her life, giving her strength and solace, especially during challenging times. In 1972, Joan faced a life-threatening accident. Yet, with the unwavering support of her church and her will to live, she not only survived but thrived, living a full and wonderful life for an additional 50 plus years. This testament to her courage and the power of faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. As we bid farewell to Mama Joan, we celebrate a life that was truly well-lived. Joan's memory will be treasured forever, a testament to the incredible woman she was. Joan Rutledge, a life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
A Funeral Service for Joan Rutledge will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at the Jersey Holiness Church with Pastors Ben Allgood and Steve Shaneyfelt officiating and interment following in Jersey Holiness Cemetery.
