Obituary

Jim Edward Taylor, known to many simply as Jim, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Covington, Georgia, at the age of 55.

Jim was born on October 9, 1970, in Covington, Georgia, and he lived his life with a steady spirit, a generous heart, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing honest work and taking pride in the effort of his own hands and mind. One of his favorite sayings was, “You work with your hands or your head,” a reflection of the practical wisdom and strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life.

Jim was a kind, friendly, and selfless man who was always willing to help others. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and those who knew him will remember his willingness to lend a hand without hesitation. He carried himself with humility and often said, “My name is Jim, just Jim,” a simple statement that spoke to the genuine and unassuming way he lived. His presence brought comfort to those around him, and his loyalty and compassion left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He enjoyed playing video games and found joy in the simple moments of life, but above all, he treasured time spent with his family. His grandson, Brantlee Holmes, held a very special place in his heart, and Jim loved being with him and sharing in the happiness that family brought. He was a long-time member of Gaithers Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. Through the years, he built meaningful connections and remained a familiar and respected presence in his community.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emily Taylor, and his sister, Linda Hays. He is survived by Tori Taylor; his grandson, Brantlee Holmes; his sisters, Ann Taylor and Elaine Hogan; and his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, all of whom will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude.

Jim Edward Taylor will be remembered for his kind heart, his friendly nature, and his selfless spirit. His life was a testament to the value of hard work, family devotion, and quiet generosity. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family will hold a Memorial service at a later date.
