Long
November 10, 1944 – March 24, 2026
Jay William Long, age 81, passed away on March 24, 2026. He was born on November 10, 1944.
Jay was a man who truly embraced life. He had a deep love for traveling, especially enjoying cruises and his cherished trips to Ireland, a place that held a special place in his heart. In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching classic films, particularly those starring John Wayne.
Known for his warm and outgoing personality, Jay was a true people person. He loved bringing others together, often opening his home as a gracious and wonderful host. Jay loved fiercely and took great pride in always taking care of others while maintaining his independence.
As the eldest of seven children, Jay carried a strong sense of responsibility from a young age and played a significant role in caring for his six siblings. He was a dedicated member of both the Elks Club and the Moose Club.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. Survivors include his brother: Alfred Long; his children: Kelly Sorlien (Tracy), Jay Long, Jr. (Joanie), and Kim Ferrell (Jeff); and his beloved grandchildren: Emilie Stumpf, Kaela Lockridge, Hoyt Ferrell, Hunter Ferrell, Heather Long, Ryan Long, Chanel Usher, Shawn Sorlien, Solaris Sorlien and 9 great grandchildren.
Jay will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
