Janice King Caldwell

Janice King Caldwell, of Covington, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the age of 88.

Janice was Born April 12, 1937 in Rockdale County to Grover and Dessa King She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Caldwell, both parents, sisters Evelene Lester, Byrdice Barker, Carroll George and brother Melvin King.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church, making a profession of faith at the age of twelve. She served as church clerk, helped teach in preschool, and worked with GA's. She served on the Personnel Committee and Stewardship Committee and was active in both Sunday School and the Young at Heart Senior Group. 

She attended Livingston School for 8 years and Newton County High for 4 years where she graduated in 1955 as an honor graduate. She met Marshall Caldwell at Newton High and they started dating when they were both 16 years old. They graduated together, were married in 1956 and were married for 64 years. 

She loved to camp and travel and made many life-long friends along the way.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her sons and her grandsons who brought so much joy to her life. Janice was a very giving person who loved doing for others. One of her passions was sending greeting cards for occasions like birthdays, weddings, etc. It is estimated that she sent nearly 1000 cards in her life time. 

She worked at Lithonia Lighting for 30 years. She held several secretarial positions and retired as secretary to the company president in 1992.

She is survived by her sons and daughter in laws, Barry and Mary Caldwell and Kerry and Karen Caldwell.She is also survived by 2 grandsons, Joshua and (Katie) Caldwell, Jacob and (Alex) Caldwell, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew who were very special to her. Also is survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Caldwell.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Caldwell will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025, 1:00 P.M, at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Highway 212, in Covington, with Pastor Ron Compton officiating and interment following in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.Friends are invited to visit with the family Tuesday June 24, 2025, 6:00 - 8:00P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road Covington Ga.
