James Harold Clark

James Harold Clark, 60, of Covington, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. Born on June 2, 1964, James lived a full and meaningful life, grounded in family, faith, and the great outdoors.

James was a devoted husband to Donna Clark and a proud father to his children, James Cody Clark and Crystal Clark. He is also survived by his father, Harold Clark; stepmother, Rita Clark; loving sister, Carol Scott, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Velma Shirley; his stepfather, Chuck Shirley; and his brother, Derek Shirley. Though they are gone, their memory remained close to James’s heart throughout his life.

James was a man of simple joys and steadfast passions. He found peace in the woods while deer or turkey hunting, on the water fishing or kayaking, and around the campfire during camping trips with family and friends. A true NASCAR enthusiast, James rarely missed a race—especially when Dale Earnhardt Jr. was on the track.

His life was anchored in faith. As a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, James lived his beliefs through kindness, humility, and service to others. His presence in the church community will be deeply missed.

James Harold Clark will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his quiet strength, and his appreciation for the beauty of life’s simple moments. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A service to celebrate James’s life will be held at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home an hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM.
