Ivan Cheban

Ivan Cheban s-a născut pe data de 18 iunie 1963 în localitatea Ţânţăreni, raionul Anenii Noi, Republica Moldova, în familia lui Nichita şi Agafia Cheban, fiind al cincilea copil într-o familie de 8 copii. Fraţii mai mari sunt: Misha, Valea, Tamara şi Maria. Fraţii mai mici sunt: Borea, Pavel şi Inna. S-a născut într-o Familie de oameni simpli şi credincioşi care şi-au învăţat copiii bazele vieţii de credinţā. Ivan a terminat şcoala apoi au urmat 2 ani de armată. În Republica Moldova, Ivan mergeaîmpreună cu familia la biserica baptistă “Alfa şi Omega” din satul natal unde l-a primit pe DomnulIsus ca Mântuitor şi Domn.

În anul 1988 pe 17 iulie s-a căsătorit cu Inna Popovici care a întâlnit-o în biserica din oraşulChişinău. Domnul i-a binecuvântat cu 4 copii: Evelina, Emanuel, Elisei, şi Efrem. Pe parcursul vieţiiîn Republica Moldova, împreună cu soţia au trecut prin mari încercări dar au fost învinse cu ajutorulDomnului. Au mers în misiune în satul Todireşti împreună cu sora Domnica.

În anul 2000, Ivan împreună cu soţia şi cu 3 copii au emigrat din Moldova în America, Buffalo, New York. Tot în acel an după 3 luni s-au mutat cu traiul în Atlanta, Georgia, unde a muncit cu dăruire pentru a-şi întreţine familia. Era un om îndemnatic şi priceput la multe lucruri de aceea era chemat de mulţi să lucreze prin jurul caselor lor. În biserica din Conyers “Pânea Vetii” a slujit peDomnul cu bucurie, făcând parte din comitetul bisericii.

În anul 2019 în luna aprilie au început problemele de sănătate, având un mic atac cerebral, apoiîn luna iunie a aceluiaş an a avut al doilea atac cerebral şi a fost nevoit să stea în spital ca să fie sub tratament. Încet boala şi suferinţa şi-a făcut amprenta, dar el totdeauna s-a bucurat de vizitele fraţilorşi surorilor. În anul 2023 în luna octombrie boala s-a agravat mai mult şi n-a mai putut să vorbeascăşi a fost ţintuit la pat. În anul 2025 pe 13 iunie a fost internat în spital în stare gravă. Pe data de 18 iunie 2025 a înplinit 62 de ani, iar pe data de 21 iunie 2025 a trecut în veşnicie.

În tot timpul suferinţei sale a avut parte de dragostea şi ingrijirea familiei. A trecut la Domnullăsând în urmă soţiea, copiii, nepoţii, fraţii şi surorile. Despărţirea este totdeauna dureroasă darpentru noi, cei credincioşi este o speranţă că ne vom revedea în casa de sus, la Tatăl Ceresc.

Ivan Cheban was born on June 18, 1963 in the village of Tantareni, Anenii Noi district, Republic of Moldova, into the family of Nichita and Agafia Cheban, as the fifth child in a family of 8 children. The older siblings are: Misha, Valea, Tamara and Maria. The younger siblings are: Borea,Pavel and Inna. He was born into a family of simple and faithful people who taught their children the basics of a life in faith. Ivan finished school and then served 2 years in the army. In the Republic of Moldova, Ivan went with his family to the Baptist church “Alpha and Omega” in his native village where he received the Lord Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

On July 17, 1988, he married Inna Popovici, whom he met in the church at Chisinau. The Lord blessed them with 4 children: Evelina, Emanuel, Elisei, and Efrem. During his life in the Republic ofMoldova, together with his wife they went through great trials but overcame them with the help ofthe Lord. They went on a mission in the village of Todireşti with sister Domnica.

In 2000, Ivan, along with his wife and 3 children, emigrated from Moldova to America,Buffalo, New York. Three months later in the same year, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked with dedication to support his family. He was a driven man and skilled at many things,which is why he was called by many people to work around their homes. At the church located in Conyers, “Bread of Life” he served the Lord with joy, being part of the church committee.

In April of 2019, his health problems began with a mini-stroke, and then in June of the same year he had a second stroke and was forced to stay in the hospital for treatment. Slowly, the illness and suffering took their toll, but he always enjoyed the visits of his brothers and sisters. In Octoberof 2023, the disease worsened even more, and he could no longer speak and became bedridden. On June 13, 2025, he was hospitalized in a serious condition. On June 18, 2025, he turned 62, and on June 21, 2025, he passed away into eternity.

Throughout his suffering, he had the love and care of his family. He has passed to the Lord, leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. Separation is always painful, but for us, the faithful, it is a hope that we will see each other again in the house above, with our HeavenlyFather.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Cheban will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, 9:30 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Friday, June 27, from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
