Gracie Mae Stevenson, 93, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Covington, Georgia, enveloped by the affection of her family. Born on May 7, 1932, in Manchester, Georgia, to the late Charles and Essie Moody, Gracie, as she was affectionately known, lived a life marked by love, generosity, and faith.
Gracie's formative years were spent in the company of her siblings, Jasper, Ruth, Roxie, and Ruby, with whom she shared not only a profound familial bond but also a love for music that saw them singing together on the radio in their youth. Her enchanting voice and radiant spirit were a testament to the talent and harmony that they all held dear.
In the springtime of her life, Gracie gave her heart to her beloved Bryan Daniel Stevenson, known to all as Baldy. Their union was blessed with an abundance of joy and six wonderful children who added to the illustrious tapestry of Gracie's life. While Bryan and grandsons Wade and B.D. Stevenson, as well as great-granddaughter Emily, preceded her in passing, their legacy continued to thrive in her boundless love.
Gracie's life was enriched by her children, Brenda and husband Eddie Bolling, Wanda and husband Buddy Tucker, Paul Stevenson and Elaine Owens, Carl and wife Vickie, Timothy, and James and wife also named Vickie. They, along with her 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren, filled her days with laughter, love, and the sweet chaos that only a large family can bring.
A woman of many interests, Gracie's passions painted broad strokes across the canvas of life. Her joy was most vivid in the simple pleasures: a dance, a song, the bounty of a well-tended garden, or the tranquility of a quiet fishing trip. She took great delight in the company of her fur baby, Duke, who remained her steadfast companion until her last moments. Known for her impeccable style, Gracie never failed to illuminate a room with her brilliantly done hair and nails, epitomizing grace and elegance.
Those who knew Gracie will remember her as the embodiment of loving-kindness. Her presence was a comfort, her faith a stronghold, and her heart a refuge to all. Her memories will live on like cherished gifts, etched into the hearts of everyone she touched.
Gracie Mae Stevenson's love story with life did not conclude at her passing but continues to resonate in the warmth of her family's hearts, the melodies she once sang, and the nurturing presence she was to all. Her legacy of kindness and faith will serve as a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her.
