Glynn Nelson is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Nelson, of Conyers, Georgia. He was a loving father to twelve children, listed from oldest to youngest: Renee Thomas (preceded him in death, Jeanne Nelson, Selena Nelson, Hoxie Nelson (preceded him in death), William Nelson, Bubba Nelson (preceded him in death, Michael Keith, Angela Nelson, Michael Jerome Nelson, Rhonda Nelson, Tremain Merkerson, and Tylan Merkerson.
He was the proud grandfather of 31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations.
Later in life, Glynn was reunited with his birth family, a meaningful journey that led him to discover seven brothers and one sister. Two brothers, Charlie Jones of Albany, Georgia, and Donald Howard of Aylett, Virginia, survive him.
Born in Alabama in 1930, Glynn Nelson lived a life defined by perseverance, service, faith, and devotion to family. From an early age, he learned resilience and strength-qualities that shaped his character throughout every chapter of his life.
He honorably served 24 years in the United States Air Force, entering service in 1949 and retiring in 1973. His military career spanned a transformative period in American history and took him across the United States and around the world. Through his service, he developed a lifelong commitment to discipline, responsibility, and leadership.
Following his military retirement, Glynn pursued higher education and dedicated himself to teaching, entrepreneurship, and community involvement. He believed deeply in hard work, lifelong learning, and creating opportunities for others. In his later years, he made Georgia his home, where he continued to serve as a source of wisdom, guidance, and strength for his family.
Above all else, Glynn was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose life was guided by faith and love. His legacy is one of endurance, integrity, and the unbreakable bonds of family.
