Gilbert Wayne Moyers, of Covington, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the age of 79. Mr. Moyers proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of Alcovy Methodist Church. He loved all sports, but he especially liked football, cheering on the Atlanta Falcons, and listening to his favorite singer John Conlee. Mr. Moyers is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah (McDaniel) Moyers; father, James Edward Moyers; brothers, James Richard Moyers, Daniel Malcom Moyers; and grandparents, Ellis Elmer and Bertha (Swords) McDaniel.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Renee Moyers Hutchins Darrigan of Fayetteville, NC; sons, John Douglas Moyers of Boiling Springs, NC, Ellis Wayne Moyers of Macon, GA; three grandchildren; sister, Mary Tobler of Social Circle, GA; brothers, Paul Edward Moyers, David Calvin Moyers both of Covington, GA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside Service for Mr. Moyers will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, 11:00 A.M, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. A viewing for Mr. Moyers will be held Friday, September 10, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.
