Geraldine McRay, of Covington, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 86. Mrs. McRay, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and laughter. She cherished time with her family, especially trips to Savannah with her grandkids, and enjoyed simple joys like mornings at Bojangles with friends and browsing treasures at the Salvation Army store.
A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted member of Christ Cornerstone Church and a past member of Gaithers Church for over 20 years. In her youth, she proudly played basketball at Porterdale High School under Coach B.C. Crowell.
Mrs. McRay’s love extended to her pets, and her feisty, caring, and deeply loving spirit touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her vibrant personality, and the joy she brought to everyday life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. McRay; son, Monty W. McRay; parents, John and Grace Kitchens; and sister, Francis Smith.
Survivors include her son, Marty W. Gibbs (Kim); grandchildren, Courtney Henry (Jacob), Hunter Gibbs (Kaitlyn), Taylor Christopher (Daniel), Dawson Christopher (Bailey); great-grandchildren, Lakeley Henry, Asher Henry, Hazel Gibbs, Esther Gibbs, niece, Shirley Johnston (David); as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. McRay will be held Sunday, September 7, 2025, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Andy Parker and Pastor Jeff Clegg officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to her service, from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M.
